In contemporary media society, "book" seems to be given a new meaning: people are keen to play superstitious games such as "the fourth line of the nearest book is your next horoscope", or take out a book and cut out its beautiful sentences, then take a picture and post it on social media. Books' coherent and structured form of representation seems to be destroyed in the middle between this doubt about fate and the desire for a socially perfect image.
The book Vacuum Words Bricks was born from a small work I exhibited at the Chengdu Art Book Fair in the summer of 2020 - more than twenty cards filled with small sentences, the contents of which were randomly plucked from my social apps and memes incoherently. I was amused by the conversations and reactions of people as they selected their own cards: one girl chose "If you don't think it makes sense, you don't have to comment" and told me she was going to use the card to take a picture and post it to her friends to dislike the barbarians; Some guys bought a "You are shiny and sweet and strange and lovely" and said they wanted to give it to their girlfriends who couldn't come to the exhibition with them...
This time, I put more sentences together and made a book that can't be flipped through in page order: when you have something in your mind and some doubts, please turn the page randomly, and when the sentence reflects your mood, please tick a box next to the sentence. This random collision of emotions and words is actually also a very interesting and experimental experience of the phenomenon.
